Bowers Mansion

After Pyramid Lake I returned to Reno, NV. Continuing south, I took Rt. 395 towards Carson City.

En route is the Bowers Mansion. This historic home sits opposite Washoe Lake. It's backdrop, the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

I walked around and admired it's stately mix of Italianate and Georgian architecture.

Unfortunately, Washoe County had suspended public tours due to budget cuts...

Bowers Mansion
Regional Park was still a nice place to have a picnic. Seasonally, a spring-fed swimming pool is also open.

The mansion is an interesting precursor before entering Carson City. Visitors can visualize the tremendous wealth generated by Nevada silver miners at the Comstock Lode. And understand why nearby Carson City was chosen as the State Capitol.
